Mexican Graffiti’s final day includes an ‘everything must go’ furniture and memorabilia sale

Words by Staff Writer

Fancy getting your hands on one of those colourful service flag poles from your favourite Mexican restaurant? Well now you can!

Last month, the Geelong community were devastated by the announcement that the staple Yarra Street Mexican restaurant of 42 years would be closing up shop.

Their closure statement announced on 18 July stated: “Mexican Graffiti is closing its doors after 42 years of blood, sweat and cheers so we must say farewell to our customers and peers.”

It continued, “With so many staff and people to mention we just want to thank all of you legends, repeat business is what kept us thriving for all of these years watching your families grow and celebrate all of the special moments in front of our eyes. It really has been a rollercoaster ride so we ask you again please don’t be shy and don’t let this opportunity pass you by. With three weeks and counting we would love to see your familiar faces and have the chance to serve you one last time and to bid you all adieu. So make a booking or just come on down, you know the drill, for the final time just to raise the flag.”

Since then, we’ve rallied behind Mexican Graffiti to celebrate their final weeks over fajitas and tequila.
