Andrea Robertson celebrates ten years of debut It’s About Time

Andrea Robertson
Words by Staff Writer

It's hard to believe it has been ten years since Andrea Robertson dropped her debut on us. Now she's honouring the first child in style.

After years of talking about making music, 2014 saw Bellarine blues artist Andrea Robertson put her words into action. The leap of faith resulted in It’s About Time.

Now Robertson is celebrating the albums’ ten-year anniversary with a special gig at Ocean Groves Piping Hot Chicken Shop and Burger Grill this weekend on Saturday 13 July.

It’s About Time Ten Year Anniversary Show

The ten track album saw Robertson rest into her sound, with delicate swells of guitar and her angelic vocals sitting atop. It’s a sound she has developed and perfected across four albums, from the follow up Remind Myself to her covid-piece ‘Timely Reminder’ all the way through to her 2024 vol collection Seasons.

Reflecting on the ten years, Andrea Robertson writes, “Ten years on, I’ve got four albums under my belt (including a live recording over two shows with an audience), a covid-inspired single released in 2021 (Timely Reminder), some lovely awards/achievements, successful grant applications, collaborations, lots of wonderful gigs, tours, successful events, and there’s more I could mention, but I’m doing my best to keep this short and sweet so I shall stop there!”

That’s only half of it. Robertson has become a fixture in our Bellarine music community, a mentor and a support for emerging artists, including establishing the upcoming Bellarine On The Rise to put the young voices of Bellarine artists to the front, and has become a voice for the region’s music community.

She continues, “You may have been with me right from the start; you may have only just recently discovered my music. At whatever stage it is that you’ve joined the journey, I want to say a very heartfelt THANK YOU for being there. It hasn’t been easy and yes, I still have my moments of doubt, but I don’t ever take for granted the fact that I have been so fortunate, so blessed to be doing what I am doing. And it’s only because of people like you that I’ve been able to do it.”

Moments of reflection are followed by celebrations, with Robertson inviting her music community to join her this Saturday to relive the album, taking to the stage exactly ten years to the date of the release at the very venue it was launched. Talk about full circle moments!
