A GoFundMe has raised thousands for a local family who tragically lost their son and brother this week, just days before his 19th birthday.
The Geelong community is currently rallying behind a local family, who suffered the tragic lost their son and brother yesterday.
18-year-old Jonah Lear’s body was found at Point Addis on Tuesday after an extensive search and heartbreaking pleas on social media that saw the entire community band together to assist.

The news of the young man’s death has sent a ripple through Geelong, with many wishing to help. A GoFundMe page has been set up by local Alex Smith to help support the family, raising more than $18,000 in less than 24-hours from more than 270 donations.
“Today we have woken up to tragedy with the loss of Jonah,” the GoFundMe read.
“Jonah was a beautiful young man who tragically passed days before his 19th birthday.
“If you can support Janina and her family at this time so they can grieve and support each other that would be greatly appreciated.
“We send them our love and support at this unbelievably difficult time.”
Many have shared their heartfelt condolences to the family while others have donated to the cause anonymously. At the time of writing, the page had raised $18,765 of its $20,000, having already exceeded its initial $17,000 goal.
