The city are looking for diverse photos that capture our region.
Calling all photographers, budding or pro, snap-happy visitors to the region and those who think they can get the perfect shot: the Geelong Calendar photography competition is now accepting entries.
Each year the City of Greater Geelong create a wall calendar made up of photographs from amazing local amateur and professional photographers which are submitted through their annual calendar photo competition.
Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.
Designed to discover the very best snaps of our region, the competition attracts hundreds as snappers try their hand at producing one of the final 13 images that get selected for the calendar, which is free of charge for residents and delivered to over 110,000 residents’ homes and the City’s customer service and leisure centres.
Now the calendar photo competition has returned once again, and the City is calling for shutterbugs to share their ‘uniquely Geelong’ images for a chance to be featured in the next calendar.
Residents can submit photographs they have captured from around the region that fit into one of four categories – landscapes, architecture and urban space, nature, and events and people. Alongside the image, the entries must include a short explanation of why the image is uniquely Geelong and what it means to you.
“We’re looking for spectacular photos that showcase what makes Geelong a unique and diverse region,” the competition reads.
“We are spoilt for choice, with options ranging from the places like the granite peaks of the You Yangs, our stunning coastlines, rural farmscapes, the Geelong Botanic Gardens to our CBD skyline. Get creative, there are limitless options to celebrate the Geelong region.”
You can submit as many photos as you wish, however only two photographs per person can be included in the final calendar (12 months and 1 cover).
Entries are now open and and closes Friday 12 August 2022, 5pm AEST. From here, a shortlist will be put to a public vote later this year. You can submit your entry here.
