2022 Premiers Geelong Cats Street Parade announced for this week

The City of Greater Geelong will host a street parade to celebrate the Geelong Cats winning the 2022 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

In a magnificent performance from the Geelong Cats, the local AFL team claimed the 10th VFL-AFL flag in club history, defeating Sydney by 81 points to win the 2022 Grand Final on Saturday, signifying the perfect end to a dominant season.

Defined as a legacy-cementing premiership triumph for veteran superstars like Patrick Dangerfield (his first flag), Joel Selwood (his fourth, becoming the first player to win four flags at Geelong) and Isaac Smith (his fourth but first at Geelong, winning the Norm Smith), the match was one of the biggest wins in Grand Final history, with Geelong prevailing 20.13 (133) to 8.4 (52).

Now following a massive night of celebration across the entire city (watch here) and a huge celebratory family day at St Mary’s Oval on Sunday which saw between 20-30,000 Cats fans in attendance, Geelong will host a street parade to celebrate the Geelong Cats winning the 2022 Toyota AFL Grand Final on Tuesday, September 27.

Footy fans are encouraged to come into Geelong and line the parade route to cheer for their heroes and enjoy the family friendly celebrations

The Waterfront will be brought to life for the street parade, which will see the Cats players travel by car from Upper Eastern Beach Road, along Brougham Street, down Moorabool Street and into Eastern Beach Road  to Steampacket Gardens, from 11am on Tuesday, 27 September.

The parade will conclude at Steampacket Gardens, followed by a presentation of the players on stage from 12 midday.

Park and Ride will continue to operate, on a different route, with road closures in place from 5am Tuesday, however local access may be possible if it’s safe to do so. Pedestrian Crossings for access from the parade route to Steampacket Gardens are available at Swanston Street, Bellerine Street, Yarra Street and on Eastern Beach Road at the existing crossing (out the front of the Novotel).

The Cat Premiers Parade is a free event and will take place at Steampacket Gardens in Geelong on 27 September from 11am-1pm.
