2015 Round Up: Lee “Stampsy” Stamps, KRock Music Director & Drive Co Host “The Departure Lounge”

Best album of 2015: You can’t ask a Music Director that! Music is suggestive, emotionally charged. It’s a three-way tie; Jack U, “Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack U”, The Weeknd “Beauty Behind The Madness” and Conrad Sewell “All I Know EP”. They represent chart toppers, powerfully smart writing and producing and are the sound of 2015.
Best film of 2015: Trainwreck. Amy Schumer is the master of comedy. She is smart, irreverent, quick witted and unpretentious. The film was hilarious and relatable. Amongst all the blockbusters, this was the standout.
Most memorable dish you ate: The first saganaki bagel from Round The Way on Food Truck Friday in Lil’ Malop Street. The pulled pork, brisket, any smoked meat from The Worker’s Club Geelong. The Crushed Avocado breakfast from FreckleDuck is my go to weekend bite, as it never disappoints!
Something new you tried: I tried dating again this year. I was definitely out of my comfort zone. Looking forward to meeting more incredible people across Geelong and the Surf Coast.
Tool of the year (celebrity/politician etc): Nick Kyrgios. He needs a minder… for his mouth.
Defining moment of 2015: The Paris attacks in November. It terrified a nation but unified the world.
Best live gig: Locally, our competition KRock’s The Band Heats and Final at the Barwon Club. To be able to showcase local, unsigned acts, see them grow over the years and reward incredible singer and songwriters on commercial radio is incredibly fulfilling. Also, recently witnessing Ed Sheeran captivate an entire stadium with a one-man show was a magical moment at AAMI Park.
2015 has been… the fastest year on record. (I’m excited for where it’s taking me in 2016).
