Ben Salter Plays The Bridge

If you have no plans for this Saturday night, March 5, do yourself a favour and swing by The Bridge in Castlemaine. Ben Salter is going to be there armed with his wonderful collection of tunes, including those from his latest album The Stars My Destination.

As a founding member of Giants of Science, The Gin Club and ARIAnominated Wilson Pickers, the songman hasn’t put a foot wrong when it comes to music. All up, he has performed on more than 30 albums and Eps and written more than 200 songs.

His solo career took off with the release of The Cat in 2011, an album crafted by Gareth Liddiard, Robert Cranny and Salter and featuring the likes of Gus Agars, Ola Karlsson, Robert Cranny and Dan Luscombe. The Stars My Destination, a named borrowed from the Alfred Bester science fiction novel, was recorded at Prior Park, a cattle property around 40 clicks south of Rockhampton.

Salter once again turned to a Drone for production duties, this time Dan Luscombe. Liz Stringer, John Bedggood and Seja Vogel all appear on the album. You can still pick up a limited edition 2CD pack which includes the eighttrack release, Live at the Northcote Social Club.
