Thy Art Is Murder: Dear Desolation

I’ll bypass the traditional analogies you’ll see to describe the raw heaviness of Thy Art. They are a death metal band; you would expect it to be heavy. With that being said, nothing can prepare you for the sheer wall of sound that is delivered in Dear Desolation.

Although at times you’ll come across well-worn lyrical themes such as the pre-breakdown “Think For Your Fucking Self!” on track ‘Puppet Master,’ the professionalism and musicality of this album’s sound makes it genuinely unique and unpredictable compared to other releases of the genre.

‘The Son of Misery’ and ‘Death Dealer’ highlight truly sinister undertones that elegantly flow into ferocious riffs – such as on title track ‘Dear Desolation’ – which will soon be a stable crowd favourite. By the time you reach the latter half of the album, it’s hard not to admire Thy Art’s craftsmanship.

Dear Desolation is more than CJ reigning supreme upon his return, instead it is an impeccable effort from the bands entire line-up, who work so well together while each offering something unique to the bands sound. This can really be seen on the stand-out track ‘Into Chaos We Climb’ which is reminiscent of ‘Reign Of Darkness’ from the bands 2012 release ‘Hate.’
