Breakthrough ARIA nominated artist, The Kite String Tangle (Danny Harley) has finally dropped his long awaited self-titled debut album. This album is a triumph; an experimental, electronic trance, coming from a former bedroom-producer with 11 standalone tracks that take you through a journey within Harley’s mind.
The first two singles to have been released were ‘Selfish’ and ‘The Prize’, both dance tracks suitable to amaze, with the potential to set a crowd ablaze. Many artists in this genre, however, become mesmerised by this aspect of their influence and tend to revert back to clichés to keep people dancing and enjoying themselves. Other tracks ‘Terracotta Warrior’ and ‘All I Need’ are further examples of The Kite String Tangle’s ability to weave emotion with sound.
The Kite String Tangle stands out from the pack with his emotive lyrical style and deep, dreamy overtones. He has not lost touch with himself, all while keeping an intimate hold on his listeners. If you made it to Splendour this year, this was an artist not to be missed if you wanted to experience a true, passionate, electronic connection. In short, one of the best Aussie electronic albums in a long time.
