Kings Konekted: Corrupted Citizens

If you are a fan of the pure art of hip hop and all that it entails, then this release will undoubtedly appeal to your ear. From the moment the intro entitled ‘Corrupted Citizens’ (the title track and my favourite) slowly starts to ring out, your head will start nodding and you know instantly you are on to a winner.

Th general quality of this release is of the highest order. There is not a bad beat on the album, a rare feat in this day and age and that is testament to Dontez, who clearly has an ear for that classic hip hop sound. The content is strictly street heavy, for some the lack of variety in actual track topics might mean there is not enough varied substance, but for those who love that hard edge, street cinematic, classic head nod sound you’ll be in heaven. Personally I found it a welcome relief from the ‘one track about politics’, ‘one track about drinking’, ‘one track about back in the day’ formula most albums tend to adhere to these days.

The stand out tracks of mine are the intro (‘Corrupted Citizens’), ‘Wind Talkers’ and ‘The Sit Down’ which features Trem. If you’re a true fan of hip hop you will not be left empty by this one.
