Crooked Colours: Vera

After being cooped up in a studio for 18 months, the groovy Aussie trio, Crooked Colours, have returned with their debut 10-track album, Vera. A fusion of indie and electronica, the boys have outdone themselves with the album which comes as a breath of fresh air

The opening song ‘Flow’ has a mellow vibe and is the perfect introduction to the rest of the album and sets the tone and high hopes for the rest of the album. It begins with that laid-back sound before building into an electronica dance song. The following song ‘Plymouth’ maintains the slow, cruisy vibe, while following songs such as ‘I Hope You Get It’ and ‘All Eyes’ bring in more of an upbeat funky tune, which is actually captivating to listen to.

Similar to what we would hear from Glass Animals, RUFUS and alt-J, the trio have been creating more diverse and layered productions than ever before, making them a stand out.

Overall, Crooked Colours’ album is the perfect mix of relaxed yet upbeat and funky tracks. It leaves you wondering what this trio are capable of doing next, with the boys excelling in creating mood with their unique take on indie-electronica. One that could stay on repeat all summer arvo.
