Shannon and Simon from The Block are heading to Geelong’s Homehouse this weekend, December 20. Born and raised in Coffs Harbour, the currently Sydneybased brothers won 2014’s The Block Glasshouse. The eldest, Shannon, is a painter, while Simon is a plumber. While Shannon’s travelling prevented him from seeing his brother grow up through his teenage years, they are making up for lost time now. In fact, theirs is as tight a bond as you’re likely to find between brothers. With a shared love of all things adventurous, the brothers have become pin- ups for lifestyle, fashion and travel. Head on down and get to know them a little better.
Maybe you’re a big fan of Angus & Julia Stone, or maybe you just clicked on the link thinking the duo have actually been throwing stones. Regardless of how you got here, we’ve got some good news to announce. It’s been known for some time that over the summer months Angus & Julia are hitting the road with the likes of Cloud Control, Little May and Jarryd James. While Geelong missed the list of pit stops in the first announcement the town has just been added to the list. Set to play at Costa Hall on February 26 it looks to be the perfect night of summery music.
While The Kite String Tangle track ‘Stone Cold’ was already pretty incredible, it just got bumped up on the list a bit with a few tweaks by Hermitude.
You know the name and what he’s all about, all that’s left for you to decide is whether you like the original or the remix better, though we won’t judge if you love them both the same! Here at Forte we’re all about sharing the love.
Port Fairy Folk Festival isn’t just a festival, it’s a community, and they’ve just made it that little bit bigger with a few sparkling new additions to their line up.

Matthew Flinders band, The Sweethearts, have given us plenty of joy and good tunes over the past few years, but it wouldn’t have been possible without teacher Ross Lipson forming the band in 1989.
It’s with great sadness that we report that Ross has in fact passed away. Though his passion for music and mentoring of such immense talent will always be remembered.
One of the greatest things in Geelong is touching on the many undiscovered stories that those who living in the city hold. Melbourne director Johnny Maloney has uncovered one such story, and is telling it through his short film Place to Be, though it will only get told through your help.
