Top 5 Beauty Trends

‘Contour,’ ‘baking,’ ‘a cut crease.’ These are all terms that are currently taking the beauty sphere by storm. But if you’re a fan of makeup, or just have no idea what the latest trends are, I’ve compiled the top five biggest beauty trends so you can work your magic!

1. Contouring
It’s been around for a while with no sign of it leaving and that’s because it makes your face look snatched. It’s the warming of certain angles of the face, like your cheek bones, jaw line and tops of forehead for a more defined look. If you’re a beginner, use a light hand and the rule of three aka. Lightly dust an appropriate bronzer in a around top of forehead, cheekbone and jawline – in a formation similar to the number 3.

2. Highlight
Highlighting is essential, and more and more brands are vying for the top crown to make you look like the shining diamond you are. It’s about creating a dew and shine in the places where you want it to be to make you look healthy and glowing. The highest parts of the face like the cupids bow, tip of the nose, brow bone and upper cheek bone is where you should place this. My rule of thumb is, if I’m not blinding you I haven’t got enough on.

3. Baking
Baking is a favourite of makeup lovers and artists and it’s essentially to keep your concealer in check and to give your face a brighter look. Using a sponge, dab (don’t rub) a lot of translucent powder under your eyes (or under your cheek contour if you want to clean up that line) and let it ‘bake’ for 5 minutes before lightly brushing off the excess with a fluffy brush.

4. Cut Crease
If you have droopy eyelids, or want to achieve an eye look that makes your eyes look more open and brighter – Cut. That. Crease. Basically take a transition shade higher up than your natural eyelid fold and create the illusion that your eyes are bigger and brighter. If in doubt, just blend.

5. Matte Lipsticks
Matte lippys are all the rage. Coming in a liquid gloss form and then mattifying on the lips, there are many gorgeous shades out there, but look out for ones that really dry out your lips or go on patchy.
