The best local and international pitmasters are heading to Melbourne for a two-day barbecue festival

Over two massive days, the Melbourne Barbecue Festival brings together the best local and international pitmasters for a barbecue feast to salivate over.

Two of America’s favourite barbecue restaurants, Memphis Barbecue Co. and Ubons Barbeque will be making the trip. They’re regulars at the annual Big Apple Block Party where over 200,000 New Yorkers feast on barbecue over a weekend in June and have a few special ingredients and recipes up their sleeves to exclusively unveil at the festival.

While Tennessee barbecue juggernaut sears up their world championship whole hog and pork under the watchful eye of three-time world champion John David Wheeler, Barbecue Princess, Leslie Roark-Scott, will be putting together her most famous recipes from three generations of pitmastering.

Flying the flag for Australia will be local elites Fancy Hanks, Bluebonnet BBQ, Burn City Smokers, Dexter, Southside Smokers, Smokin’ Barry’s and more.

To set the mood and ease your bloated belly nausea, a slew of talented musicians will also be on show, with the likes of Paris Wells, The Glorious North, The New Savages, Werewolves of Melbourne, Johnny Wonderpants, Sam Sam but Different and acoustic legend Sunny Hawkings set to perform.

The Melbourne Barbecue Festival returns to Flemington Racecourse over the weekend of February 4 and 5.
