Woody Pitney drops new single 'A Little Too Late'

Woody Pitney is a name new to Forte, but it’s not a name new to the industry… and we are kicking ourselves!!
Hailing from Melbourne, the Folk/Pop singer/songwriter’s musical pathway has been anything but ordinary. From humble beginnings, cutting his teeth at local suburban pubs, to dominating festivals on the other side of the world, Woody is proof that taking the conventional approach isn’t the only way be heard.
Independently writing, recording and releasing his debut EP from his bedroom back in 2013, Woody received critical acclaim and gained a whole lot of airplay on several Aussie radio stations.
It’s his single ‘You Can Stay’ that caused the biggest stir – in a good way of course! Not only is it an upbeat, feel-good track, but it was also picked up by German travel platform weg.de and was used in the company’s TV commercials throughout Europe for a number of years! Unsurprisingly, this gained him a whole lot of mainstream exposure in Europe. We also found the official video for your viewing pleasure; see below!

Fast forward a few whirlwind years – years spent travelling, promoting music and performing all around the world – Woody has spent the early months of this year releasing an EP with his side-project band Jumbo Mavis, and has since put the focus back on his solo career…. and here we are.
His new single ‘A Little Too Late’ is everything and more, proving to be a dark and powerful reflection upon a time where he thought his music career may have been over: “the song somewhat unlocks my inner thoughts from a period where I was really questioning where my music career was heading.”
The tracks starts soft and sombre with thoughtful a guitar riff but once you hit that minute mark, Woody launches into the track, holding nothing back. The chorus is upbeat, the melody is smooth, but the lyrics question a previous, darker time. It reminds me of a time watching Matt Corby belt out Brother… both incredible voices with one killer falsetto.
Produced my John Castle (Vance Joy) and mastered by Steve Smart at Studios 301, you can understand why his musical prowess and dynamic vocal ability has been compared to that of George Ezra, James Bay and even Bono. He’s got that voice made for a captivating and uplifting live show; you can truly imagine blissing out to Woody at an outdoor festival in the midst of summer. Absolutely perfect.
