triple j have announced a special edition of Ausmusic T-Shirt Day

Do you love Australian music? And care about the people who create it? Operating in an industry that focuses a lot of investment on touring and less so on album sales, and with streaming the dominant choice for many consuming music, musicians are particularly vulnerable and it may be some time before they can begin to make a financial recovery and commit to future touring options, thanks to the good ol’ Covid-19!

It’s now that our favourite musicians need us and our support, and the best way to do that right now, is by getting their merch! To help support artists, triple j is holding a special edition of our annual Ausmusic T-Shirt Day on Friday 17 April where each and every one of us can show how much we love and care.

The day has long been known as a massive nation-wide celebration of Australian music that reminds us how lucky we are to have such a strong local music scene, with many highly talented and successful artists across all genres of music.

We need to look after Aussie music right now, and merchandise sales is one of the most immediate ways of getting money into the pockets of your favourite artists, so that they can keep making the music you love! If you can afford it, head to your favourite Australian artist’s website to order one now so you’re ready to wear it on Friday 17 April. If you’re looking for some inspo, jump online to the Sound of Silence website to browse a number of Aussie artists who have merch up for grabs.

And if you’re not in a position to buy a new tee, you can still show your support by reppin’ some old merch.

Either way, just make sure you post your pic and hashtag #AusmusicTshirtDay.
