Rock Off for MND

Rock Off MND is a live music event which raises funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research and promotes awareness around the local community.

Taking place at Deakin’s Waterfront Campus, it was decided that after the previous years successful events, raising more than $60,000 in 2015 alone, it was time to go again!

The idea for Rock Off MND was conceived by Jenny Simko, who was given devastating news of being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2014. She was happily married for 30 years, had three children, and was a nurse for more than 30 years. She was happy, fit and only 53 when she was diagnosed. She passed away in the November of 2015. It was through her inspiration that this event aims to raise as much money as possible for MND Victoria to continue their research and the amazing job they do.

The night will feature Jon Stevens and his band headlining, along with the Pierce Brothers, initially from the streets of Melbourne but now selling shows worldwide, Tasmanian Maddy Jane who is getting heaps of airplay through Triple J, Australia’s most versatile performers Tim Campbell and his band, and Rebecca Maddern from ‘The Footy Show’ to host the night.

Headliner Jon Stevens will be one to see. By the time Stevens was 18, he already had two chart topping numbers, and later in his career he fronted INXS for roughly three years, which even meant a gig at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics.

There will be food, there will be drinks and as this is an outdoor event, bare the weather in mind. You’ll be permitted to head in and save your seat from 4:45pm, with entertainment beginning at 5:20pm.
