Parkway Drive announce new documentary, ‘Viva The Underdogs’

Byron Bay metal legends Parkway Drive have announced the forthcoming release of a brand new film Viva The Underdogs, ahead of their 2020 tour of the same name.

Due to hit Event and Village Cinemas for one night only on January 22, the feature-length documentary follows Parkway Drive’s 15-year journey from small-town surf-rats to international headliners on the world’s biggest metal music festivals.

From seeking out surf spots and sleeping on the streets during their first international tour, to evolving their sound and setting new benchmarks in metal with every album release, the five high school bandmates have always done it their own way.

“We have always taken pride in doing things our way,” says frontman Winston McCall. “For over 15 years we have stayed true to ourselves in a world of extremes. We are not the story of shooting star super stardom, we are not the overnight breakout success, we will never be viral and we sure as hell won’t break the internet. But we have a vision, and we have lived for it, worked for it, bled for it, grown for it and broken for it. We have sacrificed everything and compromised nothing. This is an honest insight into what it takes to survive as the underdogs. Thank you for being part of the story.”

Now 15 years into their career, Parkway Drive put everything on the line to create the biggest and most explosive show for their fans. Self-funded, self-managed and committing to over 100 tour stops, Parkway Drive recruit 40-plus crew members and fill six semi-trailers with cutting edge audiovisual equipment and pyrotechnics but is it enough to earn their spot at the top of the world’s biggest rock festivals?

Packed with a decade’s worth of behind the scenes personal footage and unprecedented access to the behind the scenes of their explosive live shows and festival appearances, Viva The Underdogs offers a candid look at Parkway Drive’s journey and all the good times, battles, triumphs and sacrifices they make as they take on the music industry.

You’ll be able to see it at Village Cinemas at Sunshine, Knox, Southland, Jam Factory, Fountain Gate, Werribee, Morwell, Albury, and Bendigo, and if you feel like catching them live, they’ll be headlining Good Things Festival this December.
