Rushworth Easter Heritage Festival

Rushworth Easter Heritage festival

This will be the 8th  year for rural town Rushworth’s annual Easter heritage festival! The festival, which is split over the weekend is the perfect family getaway for the Easter weekend with lots of activities and entertainment! Held on one of the only heritage listed streets in Australia, the  Saturday  will boast a large market with The Mark Nunis Jazz band providing the soundtrack for the day. There’s even an Easter Egg hunt through the veggie patch for the little kids (and hopefully the big ones too!) If you’re a horse fan, Easter  Sunday hosts one of the biggest musters of Working Draught Horses in Australia with farming demonstrations and unique photo opportunities at every turn. If you want some good food, good entertainment and good music you now know where to go!

The Eastern Kick out the Jams this Good Friday

The Eastern

Well, I feel pretty good and I guess that I could get crazy now, baby. Ladies and gentlemen, if I can call our readers ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for The Eastern’s ear melting Kick out the Jams jam. Lining up this Good Friday you have Los Chicos, Money for Rope and Sun God Replica. There’s more, so much more, but that was all that was available to me at the time of writing. You’ll just have to trust me. Anyway, Los Chicos alone is worth your time. The country-
punk rock soul gospel machine is a mix between Black Flag and the Sha Na Na’s, or like Otis Redding with a Texas punk garage band with their gear about to explode. That’s what the internet tells me. The Eastern, Ballarat – March 25.

Easter Celebrations with Homehouse

Home house dixie

Who doesn’t love a late night Sunday session minus the guilt of a hangover at work come Monday morning? If you’re a fan, it’s well worth locking in a visit to Homehouse on Easter Sunday as they’ve lined up Dixie and Johnny Canik to see our your weekend. What’s even better is that Thursday night features Apocalypto and Keesh and on Saturday night Zac Depetro. Time to swap that Easter egg with a sweet and sugary shot.

Eureka’s Annual Toga Party

There’s something about Easter that just screams for the need of a toga party. And thankfully, Eureka are on it with their annual toga party scheduled for Good Friday Eve (March 24). Featuring Teddy Cream and resident DJs, it’d be a crime if you didn’t pull of that white sheet from your mattress and wrap it around your body in true Greek fashion. Maybe save the chocolate feast for after you de-toga.

HOLA at Barwon Club on Easter Sunday

Hola Barwon Club

There is any number of things you could be doing on Easter Sunday, March 27. And what you will find at Geelong’s Barwon Club is certainly a great option. Endless Boogie is coming for you at the full venue party that is HOLA. Formed in 1997 with no intention of touring, the New York minimalists would end up performing their first gig opening for Pavement’s Steve Malkmus. They’ll be joined by Los Chicos, Batpiss, Poppin’ Mommas, Mesa Cosa, Shit Sex, Green Tin, Hownowmer, 2 Dollar Peeps and Lost Tacos. It’s the super fantastic, wrapped in plastic, Mr Boombastic HOLA! show. Once again folks, that’s at the Barwon Club, Geelong on March 27.

May the happy times begin!

When Good Friday rolls around on March 25, there is sure to be any number of things taking place close by to where you live. For those in Geelong, the Black Hatt’s annual Good Friday Hot Rod Show has been a favourite since it made its debut in 2012. Live music will take place all day from 1p.m. through to 11p.m., while their hot rod and bike show will provide an opportunity for a little harmless daydreaming.

Easter at the Grovedale

Grovedale hotel

The question often comes up, what would Jesus do? And if answered by the venue they’d give a resounding, “Go to the Juke!” This Easter weekend it’s best to take advantage of the day off on Monday, and the best way to do that is get out, stay out late and have a few cold ones with friends. The Juke/The Grovedale is one of the best places to do just that, and with acts scheduled for most of the weekend, staying out will be very easy to do. Playing on Good Friday eve is Levi & Cody, on Saturday will be Dear Ivy and Sunday will winds things down with the sweet tunes from Rach Brennan. The bar is still open on Good Friday is you’re craving a night out.

Torquay Easter Weekend of Gigs

Torquay hotel

If you’re heading to Torquay for some much needed R & R, be sure to stop by the Torquay Hotel as they’re putting on a massive weekend of music – and there’s no need to worry about that hangover on Monday either! Playing on Good Friday (March 25) will be the Goons of Doom, with DJ Eddy giving you a late night on Saturday and Kingswood playing on the Sunday. Who knows, maybe the Kingswood boys will bring in a few chocolate goodies for everyone. Oh, and the hotel dish up a mighty fine parmi and cold one, so it’s well worth considering spending your whole weekend there. Who’s up for camping in the carpark?
