Do you have winter jumpers you no longer need? Donate them to the Geelong Animal Welfare Society

They may wear a fur coat all year long, but animals can still get chilly in the winter – especially if forced to sleep on a cold floor or a substandard bed.

And while some breeds are insulated enough to keep them warm while sleeping on an iceberg, most prefer a nice warm place to sleep when the days are short and the nights long.

Fortunately, the ‘GAWS Sewing Group’ are busy making a variety of pet products for their upcoming market stall and are upcycling jumpers into pet beds, but they need your help to do so!

If you, a family member, or a friend have any warm winter jumpers in good condition but are no longer needed, the GAWS family would absolutely love them.

It’s the perfect excuse to clean out the closet and get rid of those jumpers just sitting there collecting dust, and you can take pride in the fact that your effort will go towards keeping animals warm and comfy through even the longest winters.

There is a designated donation drop point set up in front of the reception building at the Moolap facility that is open during their hours of operation. Being outdoors, this ensures a safe, contactless drop as you will not have to enter the building.

Details of the upcoming market stall are to be confirmed.

If you don’t have any jumpers to give but you still want to help you can also donate to the GAWS Emergency Appeal. Your donation will be used to help the team prepare for the unknown by rapidly extending their Foster Care Program, swiftly adapting their models of service to meet new demands, offer support to community members not able to care for their animals during this time and continue to provide care for the animals currently at GAWS. You can donate here.

GAWS is located at 325 Portarlington Rd, Moolap. Visit the website for more information.
