Dave Grohl compares new Foo Fighters album to David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’

In an interview with his mum and author, Virginia Grohl, on LA radio station ALT 98.7 FM, David Grohl has revealed similarities between Foo Fighters’ forthcoming album and David Bowie’s iconic 1983 record, Let’s Dance.

The band completed the new album in February and now finer details are gradually starting to surface about what can be expected from it.

“The record is so good, we’re so excited for people to hear it, we’re so excited to go out and play it,” he said on the radio show.

“It’s filled with anthemic, huge, singalong rock songs. It’s kind of like a dance record, but not an EDM, disco, modern dance record. It’s got groove. To me, it’s our David Bowie’s Let’s Dance record. That’s what we wanted to make, we wanted to make this really up, fun record.”

Just before the current crisis hit, Grohl spoke to Kerrang about how the album will bring people together. In that case, it seems that now would be the time for a surprise album drop, but alas there has yet to be any transparency on a reveal date.

“I’m fucking excited for people to hear it and I can’t wait to jump on that fucking stage to play it,” Grohl told the magazine. “There are choruses on this record that 50-fucking-thousand people are gonna sing, and it’s gonna bring everyone’s fucking hearts together in that moment. And that’s what it’s all about.”

The forthcoming album will follow 2017’s Concrete and Gold.
