What’s on in Ballarat?

The people of Buninyong are grinning from ear to ear as local wood-fired pizza place Red Door moves to a more central part of town: 401 Warrenheip Road to be precise. The good news is they are also having live music, and take-away pizza is officially available from mid-February. Well worth getting down to try these pizzas as they are truly delicious.

Another watering hole worth visiting in Ballarat is The Miners Tavern in Lydiard Street. Walking in to this pub one can`t help but feel you are on the other side of the world with its Celtic feel and warm, friendly bar staff. Plenty of beers on tap to choose from and the food is top notch pub grub. Live solo acts play weekly and yours truly can often be found at the Miners downing a Coopers Pale.

Kirbanu will play at Babushka Bar on Friday February 19 and her sweet melodies and contemporary pop will be well worth a trip to the Rat. Drifting has recently been released on digital platforms. ‘Closed Eyes’, ‘You`re Beautiful’ and ‘The Voice Inside’ are standout tracks on an excellent album. The intimate venue of Babushka will really suit these songs and this gig will be another treat over what has been a fine summer of music coming to town.

The Ascended are off on a regional tour playing their tight knit melodic metal for head bangers near and far. The Warrnambool outfit have been working hard getting their setlist packed full of punch and I can`t think of a better venue to see these hard rockers. $10 to get in is a real bargain.

Bootleg Rascal are off on a national tour playing their hip hop soul like sounds and they land in town on Friday March 4. If this genre is your thing you must get along as these guys are all about having a good time and their on stage manner is quite infectious.

Local guitar legend Ian Anderson has recently formed a duo with the dulcet tones of Tracey Patterson on vocals. Hits from now and days gone by will be played when the duo venture out to RACV Creswick complex on Friday Feb 26th and whilst it`s a slight trek out of town, but it will be a rare treat for the people of Creswick to see Ando plucking his Gibson for the night.
