What's on in Ballarat

St. Andrew’s Ground is playing host to some great acts over the week of October 19-28. Acts such as Tiny Giants and Ivy Streep, Dan Brodie & Dayzed, James Henry & The Grapes and Shewolf just to name a few.
Dan Brodie will take to the stage on the Saturday night at 7.30pm. Brodie has just released Lost Not Found in 2017. The Melbourne born artist has toured extensively in the US, UK and France, amongst many other countries. The latest release is the perfect loner’s gem. An album that you can put on when you are hungover on a Sunday and feeling sorry for yourself.
The Intellectuals are playing at the Eureka Centre at 1pm on Sunday October 28. Old school punk is their genre and the band have certainly been around the traps having started out in the mid 80’s.
The place to be for knock off drinks on a Friday the 18th of October is The Lane Cider Bar when Pink Moon start at 6pm, followed by Shaun McKeegan who belts out covers for the party-goers who are kicking on for the night.
If Irish Murphy’s is your choice of venue, Mad Cow have years of experience under their belt and if you don’t know every song you have been living on another planet! On the same night, well travelled timeless rocker Rick Price will play at The Cabaret Club. The Eastern have melodic death metal powerhouse Eye of the Enemy. Starting out in 2006,the band cranked out their first album Weight Of Redemption in 2010. Stand-out tracks ‘Façade’, ‘Peace’ and ‘Burn the World’ will be blasted out on the night, so get down and get your eardrums ringing! These guys are seriously talented musicians and I’m sure they will put on a mighty show.
I know it is a bit of a hike, but the Blue Pyrenees Avoca Cup on Saturday October 20 has Geelong-based ska/motown band Madhouse entertaining the punters for the afternoon. It’s a great day out with local wineries, food stalls and fashions on the field. The party atmosphere will kick off around midday and in the words of the Beatles, a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
Mitchell Harris Wine Bar is also a great place to relax and glug down a wine or two. A fabulous Sunday lunch was had by all recently when the venue celebrated 10 years of being in business. Museum wines were dug out from the depths of the cellars and there would have been many a cloudy head that awoke to the Monday morning alarm!
