Too Heavy To Hug #667

Welcome to THTH, Forte’s premier source of all things heavy, hard, fast and metal.

If you’re like me and you feel like we here down under are being ignored by the rest of the metal music festival world (what, with no more Soundwave) then this may be good news. In a recent promo interview, Slipknot and StoneSour frontman Corey Taylor has been quoted saying “we’d definitely love to bring it [Knotfest] down here [to Australia]” and the reason Knotfest was never bought down under before is because they didn’t want to “step on anyone’s toes”. I’m guessing it’ll be years before an aussie Knotfest is a possibility and by the time it possibly rolls around, there should hopefully be a fairly decent Soundwave replacement.

Having said that, the floodgates have been open for what feels like years now for any entrepreneurial types to get to work and build a new metal festival for Oz, but the massive live music void in summer is yet to be filled. Sure, we have Brewtality fest coming up, and Sydney has Steel Assassins fest in November and these are great, but these city exclusive mini-fests don’t create the same hype of a massive international touring fest.
