Too Heavy To Hug #666

Welcome to THTH, Forte’s premier source of all things heavy, hard, fast and metal.

Is it just me or are people getting dumber by the day? Last issue I mentioned Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington’s threat against people who call the band’s newest release a sell out and now this issue I can’t go past mentioning Kathy Griffin’s recent attempt to deflect hate aimed at her to metal bands.

If you didn’t know, Kathy tried to be all relevant, attention seeking and edgy with her Trump severed head photo shoot which landed her in all sorts of trouble. Then, she apologized. Then her lawyer and her held a press conference where they basically said that it’s okay for artists Marilyn Manson, GWAR and Municipal Waste to use violent imagery against Trump and Trump-like figures in their clips and on their shirts. If that wasn’t desperate enough, Kathy’s lawyer even went stupidly further in desperation and attempted to play the gender card by essentially saying the above mentioned bands can get away with it because they’re considered bad boys (but hey, now we all know a desperate Kathy Griffin will say any stupid shit just to dig herself out of the hole she dug herself into).

Here’s some news for you Kathy: countless metal bands have been using violent, anti-social, anti-political imagery across all forms of publicity material for decades now. I, on behalf of the metal community, would invite you to join our community if you wish to participate in this kind of behaviour but, we don’t really take in complete desperate attention seeking morons like yourself. Looks like you’ll have to weather this storm by yourself while the above mentioned bands and others like them will continue to get away with this behaviour not because of gender but because compared to pop culture (which you’re not a part of), we reside underground.
