An Aussie surf documentary titled FISH was one of the highlights at the 2016 Bells Beach Surf Film Festival last summer. Written and directed by Joseph Ryan the award winning film looks at the origin and impact of the fish surfboard design and how it would influence mainstream surf design 30 years later.
The Rip Curl Pro returns to Bells Beach next week for another action packed Easter weekend. Over the next few days the best surfers in the world will descend on Torquay for the 55th running of the longest running surfing contest in the world. Once again anticipation will be high that Bells will turn it on and produce 20 foot plus surf as it did in 1965 and 1981.
A couple of weeks ago Dick Dale played the Canyon Club in California. Dick has another busy year of touring playing his brand of high energy surf guitar music that has entertained audiences around the world. Dick Dale turns 79 this year.
Oscar Lalor has been surfing and performing along the Surf Coast for over 10 years. His smooth guitar and vocal style takes influence from a range of many different artists – a few include; Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and John Mayer.
This summer surf films return to Torquay for the annual Bells Beach Surf Film Festival. Surf films have been a tradition on our coast for over 50 years as surf film makers continue to present in the big screen the best surfers riding the best waves in the world.
