Welcome to the last ever installment of this column – it’s been a pretty cool five year stretch, and I know some of you have been reading since the very beginning. So thank you from the bottom of my cold, black heart. *heart isn’t actually cold and black, it’s an expression!
The Screeching Weasel/MxPx tour slated for next month has been scrapped. Screeching Weasel are notorious for pulling out of shows and tours at the last minute (not that they tour very much) and Aussie fans are understandably pissed off. The tour almost continued with MxPx headlining and Zebrahead opening, but it wasn’t deemed feasible with only a one month turnaround.
Japanese punk rock festival Punkspring is almost upon us, and what an interesting line up it has. On the one hand, we have heavy hitters like Face To Face, Sum 41 and The Misfits, and on the other hand, we have acts like Simple Plan and Australia’s very own Tonight Alive. Hmmmm… Yuck. I wonder if they’re still playing RATM’s ‘Killing In The Name Of’ in their set!
Ooooooooh, Screeching Weasel are finally heading our way and with MXPX to boot! Pop-punk nirvana guaranteed on May 20 at the Prince Bandroom (yes, it’s in Melbourne, but well worth the trip)! Supports to be announced any day now, so stay tuned!
