Punk! #628

Hmmmm… Since we’re still waiting on the second Soundwave announcement (seriously, what on earth is actually going ON at SWHQ?!) let’s take a look at some other festivals taking place overseas. The SLAMDUNK festival will be travelling across the UK in May 2016, and the full line-up has already been announced and tickets are selling swiftly. So, who are the bands taking part? New Found Glory, Panic! at the Disco, Of Mice & Men, Four Year Strong, Every Time I Die, Issues, Memphis May Fire, Real Friends and a whole bunch more. Yes, it’s an extremely pop-punk/emo heavy line-up, but still pretty cool. It’s amazing how much more appealing a festival can appear simply by coming across as professional and well organised!
Another super cool festival coming up is the Rock On The Range festival taking place in Columbus, Ohio, over three days in May 2016. With a mixed bill of killer bands, it’s everything Soundwave could and SHOULD be. How killer are the bands on the line up? Killer enough for me to suggest that you sit down (if you’re not already sitting down) before I continue: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rob Zombie, Pennywise, Megadeth, At The Drive In (yes, the reunion rumours would appear to be true!), Death From Above 1979, Wolfmother, Tiger Army, Parkway Drive, Miss May I, rapper Machine Gun Kelly, A Day To Remember, Disturbed (in a NON-HEADLINING capacity!), Enter Shikari and Lamb of God, amongst many, many others. Crazy! No drip feeding of acts, no delayed announcements, all fine print made public. I don’t know, maybe we’re just too laid-back here. Maybe we don’t expect much. Maybe we’re cool with being jerked around because we’ll just take it, what with the absence of the Big Day Out and Future Music Festival?
Oh well! It is what it is. Moving on!
Melbourne modern rock outfit Postscript promise to be back in 2016 with a new album.
Also dropping a new record in 2016 is recent Geelong visitors Blind Man Death Stare.
So, have you guys seen the Batman Vs. Superman trailer yet? It looks frickin’ AMAZING! It opens in theatres across the country on March 25th.
And THAT, my friends, will be closely followed by the Suicide Squad movie on the 5th of August. It’s surely not normal for a grown man (of sorts!) to be THIS excited about movies based on comic books, but I make no apologies. It’s probably why I’m still single!
The hotly anticipated Guns ‘N’ Roses reunion tour announcement looks like it’s going to be happening really, really soon, with friends of various band members going on the record to say it’s happening, including Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx and Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland. Surely more credible sources than Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit, who, it must be said, got in first!
And just like that, we’re done for another issue! Damn! Merry Turkey Day!
