The Shorts are a local punk rock band who will open proceedings at Karova Lounge on Friday October 6. Just to spice up the night, the band will have a house band and a revolving door of singers doing songs from the ’90s. Featuring vocalists from The Rye Catchers, Dewey, Trucks, The Second Sex and Witches Child, just to name a few. Word is that it is going to be a hoot and a holla! Beacons, Northwood and Witches Child will follow The Shorts for what is sure to be a great night.
Illy will play the following night and tickets are selling fast. Hip-hop rarely comes to the Rat, so fans of Illy have a unique opportunity to see him strut his stuff in the fabulous Karova Lounge. Tickets are $55, so flip your hard earned over for an awesome night of hip-hop!
If you want the living daylights scared out of you, get to Karova on October 13 and see In Extremis. These guys kicked off way back in 1993 and this gig will have the city a rumblin’.
There is still time to soak up the greatest music venue in Ballarat, before the doors close on Suttons House Of Music in late October. Rick Price began his music career some 25 years ago with his album Heaven Knows. Smooth FM listeners will be very familiar with tracks such as Not A Day Goes By, Walk Away Renee and River Of Love. The “Brought To Life A Dead Man Walking Tour” is set to kick off in style on October 7 at Suttons. The next single to be lifted from the album is called Tennessee Sky. The song is about inner transformation, letting go of old ways and welcoming a new way of living in the world. This bloke is a class act and it’s only $30 to get in!
Mad Cow are a local act who have been entertaining locals for around 20 years and will be doing a special mid-week show on October 11. Classic rock anthems are guaranteed and the best part is… it’s free to get in.
Ballarista is a great place to grab a bite to eat or grab a coffee. This groovy little place in the heart of the city makes a damn fine burger and there are some really interesting dishes on both the breakfast and lunch menus. Drop in and give it a burl!
