Winifreds Corner Shop raised $1,373 for beyondblue from coffee sales on Saturday

Recently Winifreds Corner Shop cafe partnered with Chris Lytas in raising money for beyondblue.

The cafe donated 100% of coffee sales on Saturday, May 27 to the cause, raising $1,373 for the day.

Chris Lytas is a local who is embarking on the New York Marathon, which is supporting beyondblue this year, in the hopes of raising $10,000 for the charity.

The decision to be involved in the marathon came after Chris received a call on the passing of a close friend.

“In September last year I received a call that has literally changed my life. A close mate, someone you’d consider the benchmark in positivity, lost his battle with the demons he hid so well,” the bio on his page reads.

“I’ll be honest and say I’ve struggled to come to terms with what has happened…it hasn’t been easy but I made a vow to try and find a way to turn this into a positive. This is where the opportunity to run the New York Marathon this year as part of the beyondblue team comes in. The more people that know about beyondblue, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.”

The marathon takes place on November 5. You can donate directly to the cause or read more via the fundraising page.
