The Lorne Film festival is on this weekend, celebrating the great things happening in the film industry

Starting from November 11 and running until the 13th, the Lorne Film festival is about to take over the coastal town with more than 10 great films.

Kicking things off with the opening night screening of Hotel Coolgardie, the film tells the story of two Finnish travellers’ experiences working in an Australian pub. It’s a wry, humorous look into outback Australia that rarely occurs. There’s also a pretty killer opening night party at the Cuda Bar to continue things on.

Other highlights include Girl Asleep, Broke, Unnuendo and Sherpa. There are also several events celebrating film in general, announcing screenwriter awards and short film screenings.

The event is one of the highlights on the Great Ocean Road and is all about shining a light on the talent and quality in the industry that rarely gets a look in. Geelong’s own the Pivotonian Cinema are also working with the film festival.

The screenings happen at various venues in Lorne from November 11-13. Visit the website for more information or the Facebook page.
