Busking for a change is a chance to do something special this Christmas

Following the success of previous years, ‘Busking for a Change’ is back, and this time organiser Jeffrey Jordan is aiming for it to be bigger and even better than ever before.

The past few years has seen Jordan, along with co-organiser Eric Delapaz, raise thousands of dollars ($1663.80 in 2016, and $2307.10 in 2017) which went directly into purchasing hampers that were distributed to the homeless in Melbourne/Geelong, filled with socks, food, water, and even Christmas cards to help spread the Christmas cheer.

The event – Busking for a Change – is all about different kinds of entertainers coming together to showcase and raise money. It’s like Australia’s got talent for people who are less fortunate than we are, and this year the generous fellas are back and on a mission to beat previous years by getting the entire community on board to once again help spread the Christmas cheer through hampers.

Held at The Deck in Geelong this Sunday (December 8), the event will be an all ages, all day and all night public music charity event, boasting an incredible lineup of incredibly talented local musicians and dancers who are willing enough to perform for free to help raise these funds for the homeless.

With three levels, three stages and 42 artists on the lineup, performers include many familiar names to the region and some fresh faces, including Cry Baby, The Run, Something Krook, Momoko Rose, Isabella Khalife, Georgia Rogers, Kim Cooper, Noah Vernon, Libby Leissner, Tayla Meddings, Immy Owusu, Stankid, Dylan Bunnie, Lizzi May, among many others.

With live music, drinks at the bar, games, face painting, and a sausage sizzle, what’s not to love? And it’s ALL for a good cause.

This year there will also be a big Christmas at the event where all are welcomed to put their own wrapped presents and cards under the tree which will also be added to the hampers. Doesn’t matter how big or small, your special gift will mean more to them than you know.

“At the end of the day we are raising awareness that as musicians and as a community we can inspire help and love towards the unable,” Jordan says. “We are just people doing it for the people.”

If you do have something to give, place your gift under the Christmas tree at the event on Sunday.

It all goes down at The Deck on Sunday December 8 from 2pm to 8pm. Entry is $10.
