Kira Puru is where Angelo Badalamenti meets Shellac via Sugar Pie DeSanto. Or at least that is what the internet tells me. And seeing as how the internet has no reason to lie, I trust they’re not leading me astray here. After dabbling a little in Scandinavian synth-pop, deep soul and lounge jazz, Kira Puru found a home as the frontwoman for doom-pop outfit The Bruise. She can also count The Preatures, Caitlin Park, Paul Mac, Illy, M-Phazes, Post Paint, Antony Partos, Dave McCormack, Mark Opitz and Paul Kelly among her collaborators. Other than all that, you may have caught her performance on RocKwiz earlier in the year. It’s always a treat when Kira comes to town. The Bridge, Castlemaine – October 3.
