It’s no secret that music and surfing go hand in hand, so it’s a no-brainer that a music festival should (excuse the pun) jump on board to follow the Australian leg of the World Surf League Championship Tour.
And boy did The Drop deliver.
Following the surf and celebrating music, community culture, and a love of the ocean, this year The Drop marked its place in the Australian festival calendar, bringing five big names to five locations around the country, including our humble little Torquay over the Easter weekend (Saturday April 20).
Supported by triple j and the World Surf League (WSL), Torquay was privvy to the delicious tunes from brother-sister duo Angus and Julia Stone, party-starters and Australia’s favourite electric-dance act Client Liaison, surf rock legends Hockey Dad, 2 x ARIA Gold Accredited The Jungle Giants and rising star Alex the Astronaut. We also were treated to the stunning sounds of our very own genre-bending Chitra, who was the Torquay Unearthed winner and had her chance to warm up the crowd as the local festival for all her friends.
With sun, surf vibes, outrageous outfits and pulsing dance beats saturating the coastal town of Torquay, there was no doubt this year’s event was going to be fearless in every single way.

Can you feel the fire of a Jungle-Giant-infused intoxication in your belly yet??
They are cheeky buggers aren’t they? What a vibe!
