Castlemaine’s Kian releases debut EP ‘Bliss’

16-year-old artist from Castlemaine Kian has released his debut 6 track EP featuring global hit ‘Waiting’. Kian has just finished up touring in Europe and the UK supporting Conan Grey and has released the dates for his upcoming Australia tour kicking off in July.

Kian’s success first sparked from his first single ‘Waiting’ which won last years triple j Unearthed High competition. The song landed #20th on the triple j hottest 100 chart and has over 40 million streams globally. Kian’s debut EP titled ‘Bliss’ is a snapshot of his life as a young adult and the way he sees the world.

The first track ‘Bliss’ opens with whispers and acoustic guitar strums, the song encompasses an inspiring and relevant message that ‘it’s ok to be vulnerable, it’s ok for boys to cry’. The second track is Kian’s first song ‘Waiting’, written at age 14 Kian expresses the “feeling of uncertainty, when you don’t know if somebody likes you back”. Next song on the EP ‘Childism’ has already received 3 million streams, the song was born from a lo-fi beat discovered on YouTube and lyrically explores his unstimulating school life. In ‘Summer Insecurity’ and ‘Telephone’ you can hear the R&B influence of Frank Ocean who is one of Kian’s idols. Lastly ‘Reminiscence’ has a dreamy soundscape to which Kian mixes a variety of his spoken vocals.

The EP offers insight into the spectrum of emotions that growing into a young adult can be, as Kian says “I think that in my adolescence I have experienced things, both good and bad. So, I just want to express that for myself and get those emotions out.”

Kian will be coming to Adelaide for Spin Off festival, Byron Bay for Splendour in the Grass as well as doing a few individual shows in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
