Geelong's Sweethearts celebrate 30 years

Geelong’s own all female soul band, the Sweethearts, will be celebrating their 30 years of operation this year, and will be kicking off their dirty thirties with Sweetfest, a showcase of local talent.
The Sweethearts are an all-female soul band with writing, recording and prestigious performances attached to their name. With 30 year’s worth of Sweethearts, and although being only high-school aged, the Sweethearts alumni have 7 international festival tours, international awards & recognition under their belt. Their TV documentary ‘Heart & Soul’ even scored them an Emmy nomination!
As for the celebrations, Sweetfest is a festival dedicated to all thing’s soul in the heart of Geelong. It will be held throughout the Little Malop Street precinct, in both outdoor spaces and local venues, such as Pistol Petes, the Workers Club and Beavs Bar. Also including a long list of local talents like Kylie Auldist, Hey Mammoth, Vince Peach, Sarah Carroll, Imogen Brough, and of course, the much-loved Sweethearts and many more.
This unmissable celebration will be held on Sunday 2nd December, with all performances being completely free and accessible for all members of the public.
You can also catch the Sweethearts at the upcoming Queenscliff Music Festival (November 23-25), where they will be performing with the legendary Bernard Purdie, who holds the title of the worlds most recorded drummer, and has worked with big names such as Aretha Franklin, James Brown and the Rolling Stones.
Bernard will also be hosting an ‘In Conversation & Drum Clinic’ (November 30) to give audiences an opportunity to hear his stories from recording with some of soul’s icons.
