Mavs does Movember

Tomorrow is November – no, Movember: the last month of spring that sees men prancing around with all sorts of wild facial hair. It’s all for a good cause though so we can deal with that!
This moustache growing charity started in Australia a few years back and is now a global movement, with the aim to raise funds and awareness for men’s health, particularly prostate cancer, testicular cancer and suicide. So for the 30 days in November, men identifying as ‘Mo Bros’ will become walking ad campaigns for the initiative.
It’s an awesome cause to get behind and one of our favourite Geelong business is stepping up this month and becoming a Mo Bro, Mav style.
You guessed it. Geelong’s only Greek restaurant MAVS is getting behind Movember and it’s only fitting, considering that MAVS comes from the owner’s family name Mavromoustakos… Which means ‘black moustache’ in Greek.
As part of the restaurant’s branding, the black moustache is now recognised across Geelong since MAVS first started serving up their authentic Greek feast in August 2017.
Milton, who owns the restaurant with wife Julia, will be leading the charge in raising awareness for men’s health by growing his own moustache and MAVS will donate $5 for each ticket sold to its upcoming Zorba Night on November 3 to the Movember cause.
On the menu is a 15-course Greek feast, combined with Zorba music and dancing that creates a Greek experience like no other – especially with a belly dancer thanks to the good people at Dance Baladi Bellydance Studio. Tables filling fast so be sure to call (03) 5221 0837 to book your spot and enjoy a night knowing you’ve helped the Movember cause.
The popular restaurant is based in 73B Lt Malop Street and offers fresh, homemade Greek cuisine with a combination of smaller dishes designed to share alongside a bigger, heartier fare as well as an extensive wine and cocktail list.
