Open House Melbourne is taking on regional with the inaugural Open House Bendigo

Open House Melbourne, in partnership with the City of Greater Bendigo, is gearing up for the inaugural Open House Bendigo Weekend, which will be held on the 27th and 28th of October from 10-4pm.
The glorious town will be opening up 23 buildings all unique in their own way and full of architectural excellence. These buildings will consist of private homes, council buildings such as the Bendigo Hospital Development of $630M funded by the Victorian Government, Ulumbarra Theatre and the Soldiers Memorial Institute extension by Lovell Chen. Providing a public platform for celebrating a dialogue about design in Bendigo, such as the heritage and architectural excellence.
Two days will be filled with self-guided tours within the time frame but there may be a wait time due to the capacity of the building, see staff/volunteers for details. There will also be guided tours which times will be allocated on the website, these will need a $5 commitment fee with pre-booking.
There will also be special events happening over the weekend in addition to the viewings. Including a panel on good design and heritage, free screenings of interviews with architects and designers, slide night with The Gents about signs of Australia and a talk with RACV about small and smart living.
This is a free event (unless booking for a guided tour) by why not spend the weekend exploring what Bendigo and the surrounding areas have to offer? Stay a night and experience the nightlife, cuisine and atmosphere of the town.
Check it all out online here.
