The Lost Lands lineup just got even bigger

Victorian music festival The Lost Lands is back for 2018 and today they have dropped their juicy second lineup.
Joining the likes of Kiwi legend Tim Finn, Brisbane indie kids The Jungle Giants, Aussie rockers You Am I, rapper Mallrat, singer-songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke and Arnhem Land MC Baker Boy, The Lost Lands have added brilliant new music acts The Teskey Brothers, Jess Locke and Amaru Tribe to its impressively packed weekend of family fun, frolic and art on November 3 & 4, 2018 at Werribee Park.
The Teskey Brothers, who have just exploded over the last year, will perform their take on Motown-inspired soul and blues that has sold out Australian, US & UK headline tours, while talented songsmith Jess Locke will be bringing her beautiful dreamy guitar pop to the festival land. Her debut album ‘Universe’ received a four-star review in Rolling Stone and was long-listed for the Australian Music Prize. Joining these two, multi-national five-piece band Amaru Tribe will introduce audiences to Oceanic Cumbia, a unique trans-oceanic sound with song lines deeply connected to the groups’ roots and mythology.
Festival founder Simon Daly said the three acts are not only the cherry on top of an already stellar line- up but also illustrate the festivals’ dedication to showcasing diverse talent.
“It’s important that The Lost Lands supports and celebrates all forms of diversity in the music scene, ensuring the next generation of Australians are exposed to a variety of musical talent.”
With the aim of being Australia’s leading festival for families, The Lost Lands promises to ignite the festival lover in everyone while enabling parents to share a wild and wonderful experience with their kids and friends, complete with music, art, installations, entertainment, food, and wine.
In its mission to reinvent the festival experience for the next generation, The Lost Lands are also announcing a drive to become one of the first single-use-plastic free music festivals in Australia by 2019.
The Lost Lands aims to achieve 95% of this target at this year’s two-day event.
Liam Gough and his bandmates, The Teskey Brothers, are major supporters of this movement, “we all grew up in the gorgeous, natural surroundings of the Yarra Valley and are really passionate about protecting the environment. We’re stoked to hear The Lost Lands will be 95% single-use plastic free this year. I think it’s the first music festival we’ve performed at to achieve this.”
The Lost Lands have a long-term commitment to the environment, with Simon recognised as a pioneer in sustainability in the festival industry. As founder of the Falls Festival, Simon won multiple awards for Excellence in Sustainability (International Greener Festival Awards, Tourism Victoria and Event Australia Awards).
“The Lost Lands is an event focused on family and fun. With that comes a responsibility to pass on environmentally-aware values and actions onto our young ones. This move will set a benchmark for how festivals can run successfully, whilst minimising their footprint.”
In its first move to becoming plastic-free, this year will see removal of single-use plastic from main event site, meaning no plastic bags, no plastic water bottles, no plastic straws and plastic cutlery. Instead they will introduce recyclable food packaging, free water stations located throughout the main event site and campground for festival goers, and backstage for performing artists, waste stations with options for recycling bottles, containers, food scraps and packaging will be clearly marked and located throughout the festival main event site and campgrounds as well as recyclable waste bags will be supplied to campers and can be dropped off at an on-site recycling station.
Aside from all the music and sustainability practices, The Lost Lands 2018 will also feature installations, arts programs, comedy, performance, theatre and dedicated wonder ‘Lands’ to entertain festival-goers of all ages.
