Where to watch The State Of Origin tonight

It’s that time of the year again where the Blues take on the Maroons in the State of Origin.
Yep, the fiercest rivalry in Australian sport returns as new-look NSW and Queensland sides engage in this year’s Origin series, with Game 1 kicking off tonight at 7:30pm at the MCG in Melbourne.
Looking to be the most unpredictable State of Origin in years, it’s definitely one to watch (for the first time since 2003, Queensland will be without stalwart Cameron Smith).
For those who like to pre-plan, it’s likely you’ve already figured out which mates’ house you’ll be crashing that evening and what footy food (read Beer) will be on the menu. For those who aren’t pre-planners, or prefer to be surrounded by the energy of strangers as they experience the big game, there are these wicked bars, their big, big screens and of course, the beers…
Here’s a round up of where you can watch the game tonight.
The MCG
Nothing hits you like Holden State of Origin in Melbourne – so why not get right in the action. Melbourne’s iconic MCG will once again take centre stage when it plays host to the opening game of the 2018 Holden State of Origin series. There’s nothing like the passion, pride and physicality of Game One of a Holden State of Origin series, so secure your seat today to be there to feel every moment. There’s also an exclusive performance by Peking Duk so you know, win win.
Tickets here.
Munich Brauhaus
To be honest, you will probably find us here tonight. The Bavarian, Munich Brauhaus and The Bavarian Beerhaüs are firing up game nights for the 2018 State of Origin series, with live and loud TV screenings, 10¢ chicken wings (omg) PLUS an epic sports feast that’s enough to feed a whole football team! There’s also 1-litre glass boots and 2-litre beer towers… need we say more?
Located at 45 S Wharf Promenade, South Wharf. Check it out here.
The Sporting Globe
If you can’t be bothered travelling to Melbourne to get amongst it (despite the guaranteed footy-fanatic atmosphere), The Sporting Globe is a great option that’s close to home. With locations in Ballarat and Geelong, The Sporting Globe is hosting the battle of the year on the big screen with sound. Booking are recommended if you want to secure a table, but there will be plenty of walk in availability on the day in the bar areas and beer gardens!
Located at 175-177 Ryrie Street, Geelong & 201 Mair Street, Ballarat.
Check the Facebook event here.
Boardriders Bar 61
If you’re on this side of the coast, Torquay seems like the perfect spot to get around the NRL State of Origin series live and loud on the big screen. The team at Bar 61 will be offering Origin Specials, bar snacks, sweeps and of course our famous halftime pin-point pass comp – where the winner gets a Corona Esky! Get your crew together – MAROON or BLUE, it’s up to you!
Located at Shop 1, 61 Surfcoast Highway, Torquay. More details here.
Richmond Club Hotel
Here, you’re as close to the G’ as you are going to get without actually being in it. The team are screening the game live and loud in the public bar, and are offering pre game $16 Parmas or $18 steaks. Team it with cheap happy hour drinks and you’re in for a great night. $7 pints, $7 house wines and $7 vodka. You beauty.
Located at 100 Swan Street, Richmond. Further deets here.
