Do you dream of being a DJ? Do you think you have what it takes?
Your Shot presented by Alcatel is back for 2018 and registrations are now open so take the jump and apply to live out your dreams, swapping the bedroom for the festival main stage.
Inaugurated from humble circles, Your Shot is now a highly successful annual presence of the Australian music calendar. The DJ competition stretches across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and requires no experience, with full DJ training provided at the Academy. Contestants get the opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by some of Australia’s best DJ talent over six weeks, where they learn the basics and shape their first, potentially mind-blowing set.
Your Shot provides an experience like no other and opportunity for Australians to transform their hobbies and passions for music into a career. Your Shot has launched the careers of several renowned acts such as Tigerlily, J-trick and New World Sound and is returning in 2018 for it’s 9th consecutive year.
“I really want the contestants to look up at their favourite DJ and think it’s a totally achievable goal, not just a fantasy. There are literally thousands of young Australians out there who have a passion for music, but don’t know how to go about it,” said Your Shot Director, Steve Pillemer.
2017 saw over 10000 registrants and 700 contestants and 2018 is sure to be bigger and better than ever. Last year, Melbourne Your Shot winners, duo, MAI SISTERS, went from being totally inexperienced, to playing alongside the likes of Flume and Robin Shulz in Singapore’s ZoukOut festival.
To register, applicants must apply here and attend interviews on the registrations days, with successful applicants trained for 6 weeks to perform a final set at the event days. Winners across each state receive flights and a set at one of the hottest music festivals around the globe, from Creamfields in the UK, Hideout in Croatia to Snowbombing festival in Austria.
If you have a passion or interest in being a DJ, applying for Your Shot is a must do! Who knows where this opportunity could have you be in years to come.
