One show is never enough

Hurray for the Riff Raff return to Australia this year for the Byron Bay Bluesfest, with tickets to a sideshow in Melbourne available.
Combining influences from New Orleans, The Bronx and Puerto Rico, Hurray for the Riff Raff deliver a sound deeply personal to the bands front-runner, Alynda Segarra, which is set to grace Australian audiences this Autumn. Playing at the Byron Bay Bluesfest before heading to Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on March 24, Hurray for the Riff Raff are sure to put on one hell of a show.
Having left home at the age of 17, Alynda Segarra busked her way through America to survive. A street kid who matured a lot along the way, Segarra’s creativity is raw, complex and distinct, making her an artist to watch. In their newest album, ‘The Navigator,’ Segarra draws on her experiences to produce a tell-all record that depicts a story of a girl who is spiritually lost before realising she must get in touch with and honour her roots. The album title is indicative of the story behind the music, further highlighting Segarra’s journey. Produced with British soul singer Paul Butler, there’s no denying the emotive rich influences that have inspired the album.
Hurray for the Riff Raff have so far produced four albums, one in which featured ‘The Body Electric,’ the track that National Public Radio’s (NPR) Ann Powers labelled “The Political Song of the Year” in 2014. Identifying her inspirations as Rodriguez and the Ghetto Brothers, it’s no wonder that Hurry for the Riff Raff are headlining this year’s Bluesfest.
If you can’t make it to Byron, you can purchase tickets to Hurray for the Riff Raff @ The Corner Hotel via www.bluesfesttouring.com.au
Segarra’s energy must be seen live! Forte will see you there.
