Robert Plant and The Sensational Space Shifters

Thanks to Bluesfest 2018, legendary singer-songwriter Robert Plant is headed down under alongside his band The Sensational Space Shifters. Although Plant might be most well-known for his time as Led Zeppelin’s lead singer, he has spent the years since the bands’ ending making his own music and sound, experimenting with a musical fascination – with The Sensational Space Shifters being his latest project in a line of successes. The years have seen Plant receive many accolades for his music across a variety of bands and genres, making him an artist well worth seeing live.
2018 will be a big year for Robert Plant, marking a special anniversary; 50 years since the release of Led Zeppelin’s first album, a milestone anniversary by any count. Led Zeppelin are easily one of the most iconic bands of the 70’s, with hits that are still well loved and well-known today. Combined with the release of Plant’s latest album, Carry Fire (2017), there is plenty to look forward to from Robert Plant in 2018. This includes live shows full of excitement and intrigue for music fans of all ages and interests. With half a century of experience any show featuring Plant will be a fulfilling experience with quality music, expanding across a number of genres and styles and consisting of sounds that are prone to touching the young and old alike.
The Sensational Space Shifters were first formed in 2012, and have been playing with Robert Plant since then – releasing a number of albums together, including Carry Fire. The band and their music are inspired by roots music from all over the world, collected through several lifetimes of experiences and adventures.
While Robert Plant and The Sensational Space Shifters will be performing at this year’s Bluesfest, there’s nothing to worry about if you can’t make it to the festival as they’re also playing a number of sideshows – including two down in Melbourne. As a part of his Australian tour, each show will see Robert Plant take audiences on a journey through his musical career. The unique stages of Plant’s musical life will be explored, along with some rare performances of Led Zeppelin hits – which, in the intimate spaces of the shows, will allow for audiences to appreciate the awe of Plant’s vocal excellence.
When & Where: Palais Theatre, Melbourne – April 1 & 2. Tickets available via www.bluesfesttouring.com.au.
Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters also appear at Bluesfest Byron Bay 2018 on Friday 30 March.
