Inside Out is the new exhibition from the Melbourne Museum. Showing for a limited time this latest exhibit pays homage to the 17 million objects within the museum’s collection, pulling a collection of items out of the museums storerooms and displaying them in an original context.
With 370 items on display, many being shown to the public for the first time, Inside Out is a unique way to see some fascinating objects.
Presented in combination with an eccentric audio guide, the exhibition makes for an adventure. Inside Out uses a playful narrator to take visitors through the exhibit, utilizing museum and non-museum experts with passionate stories about the items on display, and representing themes of love time of immortality into the experience.
Inside Out also includes a disco soundtrack that was specially commissioned from members of Total Giovanni – a Melbourne based five piece.
The combination of the audio guide and unique nature of the items on display makes for a rare experience for all, although limited – the exhibit is only on display until February 11th – when the items will disappear back into the mysterious depths of Melbourne Museums storerooms.
