Bryan Adams set to perform at A Day On The Green

With over 40 years in the music business and over 75 million records sold, Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams is making his way down under to play four very special regional shows in January 2018, including ‘A Day On The Green’ shows in Geelong and Nagambie for the very first time.

Performing at Mt Duneed Estate in Geelong on Friday January 12 and Mitchelton Wines in Nagambie on Saturday January 13, Adams will be joined by special guests Daryl Braithwaite and Thirsty Merc.

Universally revered all over the world for his brand of feel-good rock and roll, Adams is an icon of epic proportions, with his music reaching the lofty heights of number one status in more than 40 countries.

Adams will be touring in celebration of his brand new best-of ‘Ultimate’, released November 3. Alongside classic anthems like ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It for You’, ‘Run to You’, ‘Please Forgive Me’ and ‘Summer of ’69’, the 21-track album features two brand new songs, ‘Ultimate Love’ and ‘Please Stay’ – his first new songs in more than two years. Adams recognises that it was a challenge.

“Ultimate Love was written for the album, the challenge was to see if we could wedge the word ‘Ultimate’ into a song, it worked a treat. And thanks to the endless twitter nonsense coming from the USA, there was plenty to write about,” he says. “Please Stay was a song we’d written for the upcoming musical Pretty Woman for Broadway, which was cut from the play.”

A performer with stage-presence like no other, Bryan Adams has amassed an impressive collection of accolades, including a Grammy, three Academy Awards, five Golden Globe nominations and various American Music Awards. Adams has also received the Order of Canada for his contributions to popular music and philanthropic work via his foundation, The Bryan Adams Foundation, highlighting that his impact on pop culture stretches way beyond music alone.

Bryan Adams has a sound that has endured for decades and he attributes that to the amount of work he puts in daily.

“I believe working it all the time is what keeps it going. I used to take a year off to write an album, and getting back into the groove after that was always tricky,” he says, “So, like a runner or a swimmer, I just keep in training all the time.”

As well as perfecting his craft everyday, Adams is currently working on music for the upcoming stage show ‘Pretty Woman’, set for release on Broadway. It is a culmination of a decades work for the Canadian treasure.

“I actually went after Pretty Woman, I had tried to do it ten years ago, and then I heard it was happening and put myself forward and got the gig. It’s certainly been a wonderful challenge, because it’s an entirely new score, with none of the songs from the film – as they don’t tell the story. The new score is bespoke to the story and is typical of my work with rockers and ballads.”

Bringing his legendary voice to regional Australia for the first time, he is looking forward to gracing our shores – after the land of the long white cloud of course.

“I was doing a tour of New Zealand and it’s madness to bring everyone down under and not play there.”

Supporting Adams on his a day on the green performance are two very special guests; Daryl Braithwaite and Thirsty Merc. Braithwaite’s extraordinary career spans more than four decades and he is one of Australia’s most successful and popular singers. With an arsenal of hits including ‘Howzat’, ‘Summer Love’, ‘Rise’, ‘One Summer’, ‘As The Days Go By’ and his now classic ‘The Horses’, Braithwaite found fame in the ’70s fronting one of Australia’s biggest bands ever, Sherbet. He then became a solo star in the ’80s and has been nominated for six ARIA Awards including Best Male Artist (1991 and 1992) and Song of the Year for The Horses (1992) and will be inducted into this year’s ARIA Hall of Fame.

Thirsty Merc are celebrating 15 years as a band, loved by fans across the country thanks to tracks like Someday, Someday, In The Summertime and 20 Good Reasons. Bursting onto the music scene in 2002, the band continue to tour and make new music, led by charismatic frontman Rai Thistlethwayte.

This summer season marks the 17th year of A Day On The Green, which started in January of 2001. After more than 425 shows and three million happy revellers, the A Day On The Green experience of good food, good wine and great music is firmly established as one of Australia’s most popular concert events. This is an experience not to be missed, so act quickly to secure your tickets to what will arguably be the show of the year.
