As the days get hotter, you can depend on these summer beverages to keep you cool on every occasion. We’ve rounded up our favourites and where you can find them this Summer season.
Icy Cold Milkshake
One of the best ways to cool yourself down on a hot day with ice cream is to enjoy it in a luscious milkshake. Whoever thought to take ice cream and blend it with milk and basically any and every flavour combination under the sun, should be given a gold medal. We are loving Cocco Cafe’s Freakshakes and Mules famous crazy shakes!
Now that summer is finally here, you need a cocktail that’s cool and refreshing, a drink that transports you to a shaded veranda overlooking the ocean. Whether it’s a classic margarita, a sweet mojito, or something much more ambitious, the local bars in town have you covered. The Geelong Hotel in particular have nailed their summer cocktail list.
Cold Brew Coffee
Cold-brewed coffee is like iced coffee’s cooler sibling. They’re made of the same stuff, but one is a little more “in”, while the other one is well-known and loved but a bit passé. The main difference between cold brew and iced coffee involves temperature. That is, cold brew is brewed cold and never heated, while iced coffee is normal coffee that’s then cooled down. We love Pane di Matteo’s cold brew summer beverage—caffeinated and cold.
With summer in full swing it can be hard to not indulge in sweet and sugary treats to cool you down. Smoothies are the easiest way to mix it up for a cool treat that’s got major health benefits and tastes just as good. We are absolutely loving Bearded Bros creation ‘The Bronson’ which features mango, banana, chia, coconut and protein for that extra boost!
Freshly Squeezed Juice
Drinking a glass of freshly squeezed juice is not only refreshing and delicious, but provides numerous health benefits that often get lost in the processing that juices in jugs or cartons undergo. Drinking freshly squeezed juice can also be an efficient way to reach your recommended five to 10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. With all these benefits, it’s probably the best way to beat the heat. Geelong’s Pakington Pantry have a long list of fresh juices you can choose from everyday.
There’s not much that can top a classic Aperol Spritz when the temperature rises, but in case you’re looking for something new, 63 Degrees have put a spin on the refreshing drink with their white peach, lime, wild berry and pomegranate spritz. You’d be crazy not to try this one!
