Karova Lounge

Riff fuelled punk rocking three piece Cosmic Kahuna are due to roll into Ballarat on November 4 at Karova Lounge. The Melbourne trio have been buzzing around the country promoting their latest album Paintstripper. All reports so far have been that the gigs have absolutely rocked the socks off patrons that have gone along supporting the band.

Gracing the stage the night before the almighty Supersuckers play on Sunday the 5th. Might see the Melbourne boys stick around to see some legends in action. These punk/rock/country rockers have been at it for some 25 years and are still going strong. These guys are a famous act all over the world and are highly acclaimed by the likes of Steve Earle, Robin Zander and Eddie Vedder. It is a real honour for Ballarat to be hosting these guys and you will not be disappointed if you get along to this gig. $33 to get in is very reasonable for mine and doors open at 2pm! Afternoon session awaits…

British India are a fine band that have caught my eye over recent years. Hitting the Melbourne independent music scene back in 2007, the band have had much success and have just released their latest album Forgetting The Future. The strong Brit Pop style lead vocals of Declan Melia are quite unmistakeable. Summer Forgive Me was a great track released back in 2013 and I’m sure it will be played to the faithful who attend Karova Lounge on November 9.

Josh Pyke is playing on December 9 so get your tickets soon because they are going like memberships down at the GFC as Gary Ablett Jr. returns.

Davey Lane brought his talented band of performers to Ballarat recently and played a tight rock’n’roll set to an attentive crowd of thirty people or so at the Eastern Hotel. I was most impressed with support act Liam Linley who whacked away on a beautiful Guild guitar on his lonesome. ‘Soaking Cherries’ is his latest single which I highly recommend you get your ears on to!

So, sadly we say farewell to Suttons House Of Music as the end of October saw its doors close. Thank you to the owners, staff and musicians who brought so much joy to people who were fortunate enough to experience a live gig there. What a super venue…what a damn shame!

Where and When: Karova Lounge on November 4th, 5th, 9th and December 9th
