Making its return this November, Melbourne Music Week (MMW) is set to transform the city into a playground of sights, sounds and sensory escapades from 17 – 25 November, with a program dedicated to cultivating the city’s robust, world-renowned music scene, spanning multiple genres and performance styles.
Well-known for staging adventurous events in unusual locations, one stand out event for MMW this year is Miscellanea; a multi-label takeover of the iconic Melbourne Town Hall in rooms that haven’t ever been opened to the public before. Presented by MMW and Creative Victoria, this event will be held on Sunday 19 November, with more than 20 artists performing over three levels of the Melbourne landmark.
This will feature sets from the likes of experimental music duo HTRK, Underground Lovers, Tyrannamen, Loose Tooth, Taipan Tiger Girls, friendships and CORIN, in collaboration with Milk! Records, Wondercore Island, Aarght Records, Heavy Machinery Records and Chapter Music.
For 100 plus years Town Hall’s many rooms have played host to some of the country’s most memorable music moments (from Paul McCartney’s impromptu piano performance in the Melbourne Room, to INXS in the Main Hall). So, in a tribute to its music legacy, some of the city’s most exciting labels, promoters and musicians have come to together for a huge all-Victorian showcase, that once again re-imagines its many and varied spaces for live music. Expect DJ sets in Council Chambers, dance parties on the Portico Balcony and Grand Organ performances in the Main Hall.

This is an all age’s event supported by Rockin’ the Laneways, a Victorian Government initiative.
