triple j Unearthed Lorde Remix Finalists have created some seriously cool tracks

Over the last few weeks, triple j Unearthed artists have been busy cutting up, rearranging and adding to the vocal tracks and instrumental parts of Lorde’s massive hit ‘Homemade Dynamite’, after the Kiwi Kween bestowed us with the original song stems.

Praise to you triple j for giving us the chance to listen to some seriously talented artists!

All up, they was over 1000 unique remixes, from dancehall rhythms to this sweet 80s throwback, which have been shared on triple j and triple j Unearthed radio.

Now it’s time to hear the very best of them. Here are the triple j Unearthed Lorde Remix Finalists…

Eilish Gilligan (Melbourne, VIC)
In this heavenly take, Melbourne solo artist Eilish Gilligan strips ‘Homemade Dynamite’ of its propulsive sheen and remodels it with lavish strings and gorgeous piano to twist the original’s brash party vibe into something unexpectedly lush and reflective.

Vincent Sole (Melbourne, VIC)
Melbourne singer/producer Vincent Sole can now boast that he’s sung on a track with Lorde. The 20 year old has turned ‘Homemade Dynamite’ into a duet, going back and forth with Lorde on this seductive clubby jam.

Tone Youth (Perth, WA)
Comprised of MCs T$oko, Rob Delirious and Jimmy Drones and producer CHU, Perth collective Tone Youth have poured some gasoline over their ‘Homemade Dynamite’ remix. It’s a confident posse cut blending in trap and UK tones for a complete reinvention of the Melodrama standout.

Sweet Potato (Sydney, NSW)
For Sweet Potato’s remix, the Sydney based producer took the knock-down-and-rebuild approach, gleefully bulldozing ‘Homemade Dynamite’ to its foundations and reconstructing it as an aptly sparkling and increasingly warped and wild banger.

Aela Kae (Sydney, NSW)
Under the guise of Aela Kae, Sydney solo producer Mikaela Grob completely flips Lorde’s original, re-contextualising that killer vocal with the addition of her own serene production that’s built upon warm and floaty keyboards.

The winner will be chosen by Lorde herself and announced by Ben & Liam during triple j Brekkie on Mon 23 Oct, with the winner scoring a double pass to one of Lorde’s Australian shows, a triple j prize pack and some serious bragging rights.
