Cockies Beer, made by the Barrabool Hills Brewing Company, is chilled to perfection and available on tap and for take-away at the brewery, located in South Geelong.
What was once a pipedream for Barrabool Hills Brewing Company co-founders Jamie Roydhouse and his wife, Liz Roydhouse, has grown into a great success, with the full-size, all electric brewery now holding the capacity to produce 150,000 litres per year, of high quality, hand crafted beer.
Cockies Beer boasts the choice of several tastes between its India Pale Ale, Ocean Road Pale Ale and Surf Coast Blonde. Cockies India Pale Ale may be described as a classic, being a liberally hopped IPA that abounds with spicy aromas and flavours, a balanced bitterness and a lingering, fresh finish.
The Ocean Road Pale Ale is a naturally brewed beer, without preservatives, made from a carefully selected blend of the freshest natural ingredients, including water, malt, hops and yeast. It can best be described as being light on bitterness, with hints of luscious fruits, and spicy citrus, having a refreshing, clean finish. This brew won a gold medal at the 2016 International Beer Awards.
And as for the Surf Coast Blonde, it’s a whirlpool blend of three hop varieties, showcasing tropical fruits, citrus flavours and a smooth bitterness. The latest addition to the range is “The Dark Light”, only 2.5% alcohol, yet with heaps of body and flavour, you won’t believe it is a low alcohol beer. Is your mouth watering yet? Because ours sure is!
The brewery bar is open to the public on Friday afternoons, meaning you can end your week the right way – kicking back, enjoy the live music, and catching up with friends, with a Cockies Beer in hand.
